BMO x VISA x FIFA World Cup 2026™ Contest OFFICIAL RULES
Contest Period
The BMO x VISA x FIFA World Cup 2026™ Contest (the “Contest”) begins at 12:00:01 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) on April 14, 2026 and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. ET on May 18, 2026 (the “Contest Period”). By participating in the Contest, each entrant agrees to abide by and be bound by these Official Rules. Entrants further agree to abide by and be bound by all decisions of Bank of Montreal (“BMO” or the “Sponsor”), which shall be final and binding, without right of appeal, in all matters relating to this Contest and the awarding of the prize(s), including without limitation eligibility and/or disqualification of entries. Visa Canada Corporation (“VISA”) is the Prize provider.
Eligibility
The Contest is open to legal residents of Canada who:
have reached the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence as of the date of entry; and
are eligible BMO Visa Credit Cardholders, as defined below, of the Sponsor (as determined by the Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion on the basis of its official records),
(a) whether they had an Eligible BMO Visa Credit Card, as defined below, prior to the Contest start date or they applied for one during the Contest Period;
(b) whose Eligible BMO Visa Credit Card account is open and in good standing at the time of Contest entry, verification and, as applicable, when the Prize as defined below, is awarded (each, an “Entrant”).
Eligible BMO Visa Cards
A primary cardholder, co- applicant or authorized user with one of the following personal Eligible BMO Visa Credit Cards:
Excluded from eligibility are the officers, directors, employees, agents and representatives of Sponsor, Visa Canada Corporation, any Contest judges, and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies (collectively, the “Promotion Entities”), and members of the immediate families (defined as parents, siblings, children and spouses, regardless of where they live) or households (whether or not related) of such officers, directors, employees, agents and representatives.
How to Enter
To enter and earn entries during the Contest Period, eligible entrants may use the methods below (subject to the limits described). No purchase or credit card application is necessary to enter or win.
A) BMO Visa Credit Cardholder Entry
During the Contest Period, eligible BMO Visa Credit Card clients or new clients who successfully apply for and are approved for a BMO Visa Credit Card can enter to win on the contest microsite. New customers must be approved and receive their credit card by May 18th to enter the contest to have the required information to register. Entrants must enter the following information on the microsite:

B) Alternative Method of Entry (No Purchase Necessary - Essay Submission)
Eligible entrants may also enter the Contest without applying for or holding a BMO Visa Credit Card by submitting an original essay (the “Essay”).
Each valid Essay submission received during the Contest Period will earn one (1) entry.
Essay submission instructions: To enter using this method, you must hand-print, with the subject line: “BMO x Visa FIFA World Cup 26™ Contest” a 100 word original and unaided essay – written without the assistance of any generative AI tools, large-language models, automated text generators, or similar technologies – on “As a Canadian fan, how would you represent Canada’s values on the global stage at FIFA World Cup 26™?”, and include your first name, last name, email address, telephone number and full mailing address, on a piece of paper (8.5” x 11”) and mail it to: BMO x Visa FIFA World Cup 26™ Access Code Contest, , 77 King Street West, 44th Floor, P.O. Box 265, Toronto, Ontario, M5K 2A1 (a “Mail-in Request” ). To be eligible, your Mail-in Request must be postmarked during the Contest Period and received prior to the applicable Prize Draw Date (as outlined in the ‘Prize Winner Selection Process’ section below). Submission of (i) repeat essays (i.e. using the same, or substantially the same, essay more than one time); and/or (ii) an essay composed – without limitation – by means of generative AI tools, large language models, automated text generators, or similar technology, including through composing, paraphrasing, editing, translating, or otherwise enhancing the content - will be void, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. No mechanical reproductions are permitted, and each Mail-in Request must be mailed in a separate envelope bearing sufficient Canadian postage (e.g. multiple Mail-in Requests in the same envelope will be void). Mail-In Requests become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Each eligible Mail-in Request that is received in accordance with these Rules (as determined by the Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion) will be eligible to receive one (1) Entry.
To be eligible, your Entry must be submitted and received in accordance with these Rules during the Contest Period.
General Entry Conditions
No purchase, payment, or credit card application is required to enter or win. Entries submitted using either method will be treated as having an equal chance of winning, provided they comply with these Rules. All entries must be earned and received within the Contest Period (and, where applicable, received by the applicable Draw Date).
Use (or attempted use) of multiple identities, email addresses and/or any automated system to earn entries or otherwise participate in this Contest is prohibited and is grounds for disqualification at the sole discretion of the Sponsor.
4. Prizes
There are a total of three (3) prizes available to be won during the Contest Period (each, a “Prize” and collectively, the “Prizes”). Each Prize will be awarded to one (1) eligible entrant selected in accordance with these Rules, regardless of method of entry and consists of the following (collectively, the “Match Ticket Prize”):
FIFA World Cup 26™ Match Ticket + Prepaid Visa Gift Card Prizes
There are three (3) Match Ticket Prizes available to be won. Each Match Ticket Prize consists of:
Two (2) Category 2 tickets to one (1) FIFA World Cup 26™ match (each, a “Match”), for use by the eligible winner and one (1) guest; each valued at $1,225 CAD to $8,325 CAD depending on the specific match and location; and
Two (2) Prepaid Visa gift cards, each valued at $2,500 CAD, for a total gift card value of $5,000 CAD per Prize, intended to support expenses related to attendance at the Match.
The total value of Prepaid Visa gift cards issued across all Prizes is $15,000 CAD.

Ticket Conditions and Restrictions
All tickets issued through the Contest are promotional tickets, are non-transferable, and must be used by the verified eligible winner and their selected guest.
Tickets may not be sold, assigned, transferred, or otherwise conveyed to any third party.
All ticket usage is subject to FIFA approval, applicable stadium policies, and all FIFA World Cup 26™ terms and conditions.
The structure and execution of any public-facing promotion related to the Contest is subject to FIFA’s prior approval, as applicable.
Exclusions
For greater certainty, each Match Ticket Prize does not include airfare, travel costs, guest travel insurance, accommodations, ground transportation, meals, onsite translation services, or any other expenses unless expressly stated in these Rules.
General Prize Conditions
Prize details are subject to change based on the mutual written agreement of the Parties and subject to FIFA approval.
No cash alternative or substitution is permitted, except at the Sponsor’s sole discretion.
All Prizes must be accepted as awarded.
Visa will contact the winner to coordinate prize details.
Prize Conditions
Prizes must be accepted as awarded and may not be substituted, transferred or redeemed for cash or otherwise. Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to substitute a prize of greater or equivalent monetary value if a prize cannot be awarded as described for any reason. Prize will be delivered to verified winners only. Sponsor will not replace any lost or stolen prizes.
Any other costs or expenses associated with a Prize not specified herein will be the responsibility of the selected winner (and guest, if applicable), including without limitation transportation (except where expressly included for the Grand Prize), meals, communication charges, room service, gratuities, optional tours, insurance and medical travel documents.
Travel and attendance at any match/event is subject to availability, government restrictions and regulations, venue policies, and airline, airport or other travel restrictions and regulations. Other restrictions may apply.
Winner and guest for the finals trip to NYC are responsible for obtaining all necessary travel documentation and permissions (including without limitation any visas or any travel-related authorizations) and must travel on the same itinerary. No changes to destinations, names, or travel dates will be accepted once confirmed.
5. Winner Selection
On May 19th, 2026, in Toronto Ontario at 11:00am ET a random draw will be conducted from among all eligible entries received during the Contest Period to select fifty (50) potential winners. The selected entrants will be ranked in the order in which they are drawn.
Each selected entry will be assigned a corresponding unique code or identifier, which will be provided to the Sponsor for eligibility validation. By May 22nd, 2026, the Sponsor will validate the selected entrants and confirm which entries are eligible to be contacted in accordance with these Official Rules.
Beginning on May 25th, 2026, the Prize provider will attempt to contact the validated selected entrants in the order in which they were drawn (starting with the first-ranked selected entrant) for the purpose of awarding the three (3) Prizes, subject to successful verification and satisfaction of all prize claim conditions. If a Selected Entrant cannot be contacted, is found to be ineligible, or does not satisfy the prize claim requirements, the next eligible Selected Entrant in the ranked order will be contacted until all Prizes have been awarded or no eligible entries remain.
Odds of being selected to win depend on the number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period.
6. Winner Verification and Notification
Selected entrant(s) will be notified by telephone or email using the telephone number or email provided at the time of entry. Sponsor or the Contest Administrator will make a minimum of three (3) attempts to contact the selected entrant within forty-eight (48) hours of initial contact. To be declared a winner, the selected entrant must:
Respond to the notification within 48 hours of the Sponsor or Contest Administrator’s initial contact;
Correctly answer a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question without assistance or mechanical aid; and
Failure to respond within the required timeframe, correctly answer the skill-testing question, complete the required documentation, or meet the account requirements will result in forfeiture of the prize, and the Sponsor reserves the right to select an alternate entrant in accordance with these Official Rules.
Return of any Prize or winner notification as undeliverable, inability to reach selected entrant or failure of selected entrant to respond within the required time, failure to provide proof of eligibility (if requested), release documents, or other required documentation in a timely manner, failure to correctly answer the skill-testing question, or other non-compliance with these Official Rules may result in disqualification, forfeiture of the Prize and, at Sponsor’s sole discretion, selection of an alternate eligible entrant.
7. Right to Void / Terminate / Suspend / Modify
Sponsor reserves the right to terminate, suspend or modify this Contest, in whole or in part, at any time and without notice or obligation if, in Sponsor’s sole discretion, any factor interferes with its proper conduct as contemplated by these Official Rules. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, if the Contest, or any part thereof, is not capable of running as planned for any reason, including but not limited to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, programming errors, or technical failures, which, in the sole discretion of Sponsor, corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest, Sponsor may, in its sole discretion void any suspect entries and: (a) terminate the Contest, or any portion thereof; (b) modify or suspend the Contest, or any portion thereof, to address the impairment and then resume the Contest, or relevant portion, in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules; and/or (c) award the Prizes from among the eligible, non-suspect entries received up to the time of the impairment in accordance with the winner selection criteria discussed above.
Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process, violates the Official Rules, or acts with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.
8. Limitation of Liability and Releases
BY PARTICIPATING IN THIS CONTEST, ENTRANTS AGREE THAT SPONSOR, VISA, THE CONTEST ADMINISTRATOR, X (FORMERLY KNOWN AS TWITTER), INSTAGRAM, FACEBOOK (META) AND THE PROMOTION ENTITIES AND THEIR RESPECTIVE PARENTS, SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, AND EACH OF THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS AND REPRESENTATIVES (THE “RELEASED PARTIES”) HAVE NO LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR, AND SHALL BE HELD HARMLESS BY ENTRANTS AGAINST, ANY LIABILITY FOR ANY INJURIES, LOSSES OR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND (INCLUDING DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES) TO PERSONS OR PROPERTY RESULTING FROM THE CONTEST, INCLUDING THE ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION, MISUSE OR USE OF ANY PRIZE. FURTHER, BY PARTICIPATING IN THIS CONTEST, ENTRANTS AGREE THAT THE RELEASED PARTIES HAVE NO LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR, AND SHALL BE HELD HARMLESS BY ENTRANTS AGAINST, ANY LIABILITY FOR ANY INJURIES, LOSSES OR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND (INCLUDING DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES) TO PERSONS OR PROPERTY RESULTING FROM: (A) ENTRY OR PARTICIPATION IN THIS CONTEST, INCLUDING ACCESS TO AND USE OF ANY CONTEST WEBSITE, OR (B) ANY CLAIMS BASED ON PERSONALITY OR PRIVACY RIGHTS, DEFAMATION OR MERCHANDISE DELIVERY. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, therefore such exclusions may not apply to Contest entrants.
Without limiting the foregoing, the Released Parties and any of Sponsor’s other suppliers or contractors, shall not be responsible for: (a) any incomplete or inaccurate information that is caused by users, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest, or by any technical or human error; (b) lost, interrupted, or unavailable network, server, service provider, on-line systems, telephone networks or telephone lines, or any other connections; (c) theft, destruction, loss or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries; (d) problems with, or malfunctions or failures of, telephone networks or lines, computers or computer on-line systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, viruses or bugs; (e) garbled transmissions or miscommunications; (f) failure of any e-mail to be received by or from Sponsor, Visa or Promotion Entities; (g) damage to a user’s computer equipment occasioned by participation or downloading of materials related to this Contest; (h) printing, distribution, programming or production errors, and any other errors or malfunctions of any kind; or (i) technical, pictorial, typographical or editorial errors or omissions contained herein.
9. Use of Personal Information
By participating in the Contest, each entrant consents to the Sponsor’s, the Contest Administrator’s, and their agents’ use of their full name, email address, BMO Visa Credit Card account, and eligibility information (Personal Information) for the purpose of administering the Contest, including for prize fulfilment purposes, where applicable. You can withdraw your consent for the use of your Personal Information in relation to the Contest at any time. However, this will result in your entry being invalid and you will no longer be eligible to receive a prize. To withdraw from the Contest, send an email to bmosoccercontest@visa.com, with the subject line “Contest consent withdrawal”. In the email,
include your first and last name, and the email address used to enter the Contest. Please note this mailbox is not monitored for customer support requests.
Publicity and Cardholder Information
By participating in the Contest and accepting a prize, winners consent to the use of their first and last name for any publicity carried out by the Sponsor, Visa its agents and representatives, and marketing partners, without further notice or compensation.
10. General Conditions
All entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned and no correspondence will be made with or entered into except with selected entrant(s). By participating in the Contest, each entrant agrees that the Released Parties have not made, with respect to each of their own products/services provided as a prize or part thereof, any warranty, representation or guarantee express or implied, in fact or in law, with respect to any Prize and specifically disclaim all such warranties, including without limitation, the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Winning a Prize is contingent on fulfilling all the requirements set forth herein. Mass entries, automated entries, entries submitted by third parties, and any entries or prize claims that are late, incomplete, fraudulent, illegible, unidentified or delayed will be void. All entries and prize claims are subject to verification. Proof of entry submission does not constitute proof of receipt. Entrants agree to abide by these Official Rules. Decisions of Sponsor and/or any independent Contest judging organization will be final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Contest. Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws. Void where prohibited. Sponsor reserves the right to correct any typographical, printing, computer programming or operator errors. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. If any provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, then the Official Rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained herein. WARNING: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS CONTEST OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS, AND SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO PROSECUTE AND SEEK DAMAGES TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
In the event of a dispute as to the identity of the person who submitted any entry, the authorized account holder of the e-mail address (or account) associated with the entry will be deemed to be the entrant.
11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction (Canada)
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes, claims, or causes of action arising out of or related to this Promotion shall be resolved exclusively by the courts located in the province of Ontario, and participants irrevocably attorn to the jurisdiction of such courts.
